چکیده

In this paper we describe a method for calculating the structure of a scene from a sequence of images and camera movements. We use a different approach to most structure-from-motion algorithms by first estimating a depth value, calculating its trajectory in the spatio-temporal volume and testing how well the trajectory matches the data. The technique does not place any restrictions on camera motion and produces a dense depth map. We report results of 95% accuracy for synthetic scenes, and processing times of as low as 3 seconds per frame.

Fast 3-D Interpretation from Monocular Image Sequences on Large Motion Fields

This paper proposes a fast method for dense 3-D interpretation to directly estimate a dense map of relative depth and motion from a monocular sequence of images on large motion fields. The NagelEnkelmann technique is employed in the variational formulation of the problem. Diffusion-reaction equations are derived from the formulation so as to approximate the dense map on large motion fields and ...

New Pseudo-CT Generation Approach from Magnetic Resonance Imaging using a Local Texture Descriptor

Background: One of the challenges of PET/MRI combined systems is to derive an attenuation map to correct the PET image. For that, the pseudo-CT image could be used to correct the attenuation. Until now, most existing scientific researches construct this pseudo-CT image using the registration techniques. However, these techniques suffer from the local minima of the non-rigid deformation energy f...

Real-time Depth Reconstruction from Stereo Sequences

We propose a fast depth reconstruction algorithm for stereo sequences using camera geometry and disparity estimation. In disparity estimation process, we calculate dense background disparity fields in an initialization step so that only disparities of moving object regions are updated in the main process using real-time segmentation and hierarchical disparity estimation techniques. The estimate...

A Bayesian Framework for Human Body Pose Tracking from Depth Image Sequences

This paper addresses the problem of accurate and robust tracking of 3D human body pose from depth image sequences. Recovering the large number of degrees of freedom in human body movements from a depth image sequence is challenging due to the need to resolve the depth ambiguity caused by self-occlusions and the difficulty to recover from tracking failure. Human body poses could be estimated thr...

Dense 3-D Structure from Image Sequences Using Probabilistic Depth Carving

We describe an algorithm to determine dense 3-D structure in a static scene from an image sequence captured by a moving camera. Metric camera motions are first determined using a recursive structure from motion algorithm based on tracked feature points. Dense depth information for a subset of key frames is then obtained using a novel probabilistic depth carving algorithm analogous to space carv...
